The United State Cafe provided a wealth of information regarding conflict management and negotiation (smile).

Ahankara*, in the form of "power play", caused the Cafe to fall.

Some have asked why I tend toward reclusive or (smile) lurk behind my keyboard. The best answer can be shown with photographs.

Incident #1 (May 1969)

(tmalss)** It was one of those sunshine daydream mornings...so a friend and I headed down Telegraph Ave. to UC Berkeley, where we would walk up to Tilden Park. About one half block from the campus we heard, what sounded like, gun shots and saw a large group of screaming people running toward us. The rest is history.

Incident #2 (September 1975)

(tmalss) A peaceful protest by 2000+ motorcyclists was held at the Federal Building in San Francisco and ended up on Haight Street. For two hours a big biker party happened until the police announced it was an "unlawful assembly" and told everyone to disperse. Within 15 minutes all but a few bikers had left. I started cleaning up the garbage in front of the Cafe, not aware a police sweep was heading towards me. What followed was not pretty, so I will end with what is the beginning of the obvious (photos here).

These incidents and a few other things may be responsible for reclusion (smile).

* ahankara (lit,."I do) - the ego-principle is the root cause of dualism or the seeming separation between people and their creator. Ahankara brings humans under the sway of maya (cosmic delusion), by which the subject (ego) falsely appears as object; the creatures imagine themselves to be creators.
